Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 is all set to premiere February 17th, exclusively on Disney+. The long-awaited return of the fan-favorite show was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018. Star Wars fans were shocked by the news and never really expected the series to return at all, though the announcement of Disney's streaming service hinted at such a thing happening. Now, after the breakout success of The Mandalorian, fans have some more content to get excited about.

The Clone Wars originally aired on the Cartoon Network and then transitioned over to Netflix for its sixth season in 2014. While the series stopped, the stories were continued in the form of comic books and novels. However, some Star Wars fans always held up hope that Dave Filoni would come back and make at least one more season. When originally asked about returning in 2018, Filoni said, "Personally, it's very rewarding. Any opportunity to put the final pieces of the story in place is meaningful as a storyteller." He went on to note, "I'm happy for the opportunity to define these things and the end of this part of The Clone Wars."

Dave Filoni also said that returning to The Clone Wars offered him some time to reflect on all of the people he has worked with over the years, which got him thinking about everything he learned from George Lucas. "It reminds me of the important elements that go into making Star Wars," said Filoni. The showrunner's exhaustive Star Wars knowledge is what keeps the fans coming back for more.

As it turns out, The Clone Wars might not be the only Star Wars series getting a revival on Disney Plus. It was reported earlier this week that a Rebels sequel series could be on the way. It's believed that Dave Filoni is back on board and the show will star Ahsoka and Sabine. Apparently the new Star Wars animated series will not be called Rebels and will not have Ezra and Thrawn involved. It's important to note that this information has not been confirmed officially at this time, but it seems highly likely and it's another thing fans will get really excited about.

Dave Filoni was one of the people responsible for helping Jon Favreau get The Mandalorian off of the ground. The first live-action Star Wars series was something fans weren't expecting a lot from, but it ended up exceeding any expectations anyone might have had and finally united fans for once. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner has hailed Favreau as the next George Lucas and fans are excited to see what he and Filoni come up with for season 2. While we all wait for more Baby Yoda, we have The Clone Wars season 7 to look forward to next month. A video of things to come was originally posted on Disney's official site, but it has since been taken down.
