Kurt Sutter is best known for his hard-hitting work in dramatic television, creating the FX series Sons of Anarchy and serving as a writer-producer on The Shield. Today, Kurt Sutter has signed a deal with FX to write a half-hour comedy pilot dubbed Diva. Clown. Killer.

The show will center on a female rock star who is long past her heyday as an 80s icon. These days, she makes ends meet by performing as a clown at birthday parties, while moonlighting as an assassin. Here's what Kurt Sutter had to say about the dark comedy.

"I look at 'SOA' as being an intense drama, where the murder and mayhem are made palatable by absurd, dark humor. This half-hour will be an absurd, dark comedy, where the story is fueled by murder and mayhem."

Katey Sagal, the writer's wife, will executive produce and may star in the pilot, depending on her availability. Kurt Sutter will also executive produce alongside Belle Zwerdling. If the show is picked up to series, Kurt Sutter will also serve as showrunner, pulling double duty with Sons of Anarchy.
