A new trailer for Snowpiercer season 2 has arrived directly from New York Comic Con. The cast and showrunner united for a virtual panel as part of this year's online event, and they brought some new footage from the show's return with them. Not only did we get the teaser, but it brings with it the news that the series will be making its return on January 25. Plus, we get a good look at Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford.

The trailer sees Wilford delivering an impassioned speech before we catch up with Layton, who has sewn the seeds of revolution. Though just a teaser, it sets these two men and their loyalists on a collision course. We then get a glimpse at some of the brawling and action that will come as a result of the conflict.

Stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, and showrunner Graeme Manson were on hand for the panel. The end of season 1 left the state of the train in chaos. Manson revealed that they knew early on where they were going to leave things off heading into the second season, which will serve as a nice jumping-off point when the show returns.

"Pretty early on we decided that the end of season 1 would be the appearance of a second train. That gave us the opportunity to build up the myth of Wilford... We knew pretty early and that was going to be a pretty exciting jump-off point, to leave Melanie out there in the snow, like you said. And introduce us to the horrifying, two new characters."

The series is set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, It centers on the remnants of humanity who are now forced to live on a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the planet. It is an adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel series. Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho also directed a movie based on the material that was released in 2014.

In Snowpiercer season 2, after discovering Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is alive and heading their way on a different train, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) risks braving the outside to stop him from invading. But once she's out there, it comes to light that Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), Melanie's daughter, who she thought was dead, is alive. She has become Wilford's new protegee. A new power struggle emerges and a dangerous rift invades the train as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford. With a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing, Wilford seems to have the edge. Layton battles Wilford for the soul of the train while Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

This show had a long journey when it came to actually getting on the air. But it finally debuted last May. There is no word yet on if the network has plans to continue beyond the upcoming season. Snowpiercer season 2 debuts January 25 on TNT. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
