Zachary Quinto and Brian Cox have joined Peter Sarsgaard and Mary-Louise Parker in the upcoming NBC mini-series The Slap.

Based on the 2011 Australian mini-series of the same name, The Slap centers on one family that is torn apart when a man slaps another couple's misbehaving child. That incident causes longtime secrets to be exposed while triggering a lawsuit that could rock the American morals to its core.

Zachary Quinto plays Harry, a married mechanic and auto dealer specializing in European cars, who lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Always hot-tempered, it's Harry's slap that serves as the catalyst for this drama. Brian Cox is playing the family patriarch Manolis.

Jon Robin Baitz (The West Wing, Brothers & Sisters) is writing all of the mini-series' episodes, while executive producing alongside Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Ted Gold and Tony Ayres.

Before playing Spock in Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, Zachary Quinto was best known for his breakout role as Sylar on NBC's Heroes, and he also appeared in FX's American Horror Story. Brian Cox will next be seen on the big screen in Anna and Pixels.
