Three months after giving the green light for the Scream pilot, MTV has hired writers Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin to write the first episode of the potential series.

No story details have been revealed, and it isn't known if the show will have a whole different approach, or if it will be a continuation from the popular Scream horror movie franchise.

Both Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin currently write for the hit ABC drama series Revenge. Their previous credits include writing and producing shows such as The Event, Mercy, Criminal Minds and Cold Case.

Our report from April indicated that Scream film director Wes Craven was in talks to direct the pilot episode. The filmmaker responded to the report in May, revealing that he has been approached to direct, but that his final decision will depend on the script. With writers now on board, we'll have to wait and see if their take is met with approval by Wes Craven.
