Scream: Resurrection, the six-episode third season reboot of MTV's Scream TV show, will be hitting VH1 later this month in a special three-night event beginning on Monday, July 8th. The newly rebooted series will not only see the return of the classic Ghostface mask to the franchise, but also the voice talents of actor Roger Jackson as the infamous killer's voice on the other end of the phone. We recently shared a trailer for the third season reboot with you guys, and today it looks like we have yet another. But no worries, this new trailer is much better than the one that was unleashed last week.

I don't know about you, but I was a big fan of the first two seasons of MTV's Scream series. Sure it wasn't great TV by any means, but the two seasons boasted slick whodunit mysteries and some fun meta-comedy to boot. Plus, I don't know if you know this about me by this point in time or not, but Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson's original 1996 Scream is my favorite horror movie of all time. A bold statement, I know. But it's one I stick by year in and year out. What this means is that I think I'm more than a little primed to be excited for the upcoming third season reboot. I've even made the joke that if the powers that be behind the scenes decided to produce a Saturday Morning cartoon based on Scream I would be there each weekend morning with my bowl of Ghostface crunchies ready to watch the fun and games.

That said, I can't help but feel a little betrayed by this new third season reboot. After all, as I mentioned above, I was what you might call a major fan of the first two seasons of MTV's Scream and so to see those characters just left high and dry for a whole new cast and a whole new storyline kind of sits in a sour patch in my stomach. But I can forgive and (possibly) forget. I guess we'll have to wait and see once this new season hits VH1 later this month.

And speaking of which, the release plan for this six-episode season is a little tricky, if you didn't already know, so make sure to take note here. Scream: Resurrection will be slashing and gashing its way onto VH1 beginning on Monday, July 8th. That night will kick off a three-night event series which will run through Wednesday, July 10, with two episodes airing back-to-back on each of the three nights. Makes sense? Sure it does.

This rebooted third season of Scream: The TV Series features Power Rangers star RJ Cyler as a local football star named Deon Elliot. As you might imagine, Deon's tragic past comes back to haunt him - and, you know, massacre his friends, relatives, and classmates in the form of a mysterious killer dressed as the infamous Ghostface. Cyler's costars include Mary J. Blige, Keke Palmer, Tyler Posey, and Biggie's son, C.J. Wallace. We also get a Paris Jackson cameo. This new trailer comes to us from VH1 over on YouTube.
