Hulu has released a new trailer for its upcoming docuseries Sasquatch. As is made clear by the title, the series will focus on the legendary creature. But this is more than the average investigation into the alleged existence of Bigfoot. As we can see from the trailer, the documentary, produced by the Duplass brothers, weaves in murder, drugs and mystery to make this much more than a search for the beast. This plays much more like a true-crime series, it just so happens that a beast from the world of cryptozoology is at the center of it.

The trailer opens with a disembodied voice providing an ominous warning. We then pick up with a journalist who is revisiting the craziest story from his 25-year career, which has taken some pretty crazy turns. He then proceeds to relay a tale he was once told about a supposed Bigfoot attack that resulted in three men being brutally murdered. This incident supposedly took place, of all places, on a weed farm. It then turns into an investigation, many years after this story was first told, attempting to find evidence to support the wild claims. It gets progressively bizarre from there.

Sasquatch centers on investigative journalist David Holthouse who, while visiting a pot farm in Northern California in 1993, heard a story that haunts him to this day. On a nearby farm three men were allegedly torn limb from limb in a savage Bigfoot attack. The documentary follows David as he revisits the Redwoods 25 years later trying to find any evidence that might lead to the truth of what happened that night. As he pulls at the threads of this story, he's taken down a path that's far more terrifying than anyone would have imagined.

The three-episode series is directed by Joshua Rofe. Executive producers include Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, and Mel Eslyn of Duplass Brothers Productions. They previously produced Wild Wild Country and Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist. Rofe and Steven Berger are producing for Number 19, along with David Holthouse and Zach Cregger. M. Elizabeth Hughes is also on board as a producer.

Joshua Rofe is the director and executive producer of the acclaimed four-part Amazon Prime documentary series Lorena. It debuted at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and received a Best Multi-Part Documentary nomination at the 2019 International Documentary Association Awards. Rofe is currently directing and producing a documentary feature for Netflix. HIs previous features include Lost for Life and Swift Current.

Hulu has been increasing its selection of original documentaries. Other recent additions to the streaming service's library include I Am Greta, 69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez and Kid 90. Sasquatch was selected as part of this year's virtual SXSW film festival. For the second year in a row, the massive event was forced to go digital due to ongoing health and safety concerns. Sasquatch is set to arrive on April 20. Be sure to check out the trailer for yourself from the |Hulu YouTube channel.
