NBC announced today that musician Drake and Jonah Hill will host the first 2014 episodes of Saturday Night Live on January 18 and January 25. The series has also added Sasheer Zamata as a new cast member.
Sasheer Zamata, who trained out of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York, becomes the first African-American female cast member since Maya Rudolph left the show five years ago. The lack of African-American females on the show had stirred some debate, which lead creator/executive producer Lorne Michaels to conduct a talent search in multiple cities. The actress was one of 12 who received callbacks and tested on the SNL stage on December 16. She will be a featured player on the show, making her debut on the January 18 episode which Drake is hosting and serving as the musical guest.
