The Santa Clarita Diet season 3 trailer finds the Hammonds having to make some pretty big life decisions. The hit Netflix show comes back at the end of this month and it looks like Drew Barrymore's Sheila and Timothy Olyphant's Joel are at a crossroads in their relationship when it is realized that Joel could live forever like Sheila. Will Joel decide to head down the zombie road to live with Sheila forever? Season 3 just may give us that answer by the end final episode.
Santa Clarita Diet features the relatively normal realtor husband and wife team of Joel and Sheila Hammond. It's all normal except for the fact that Sheila is a zombie who lives off of an insatiable hunger for human flesh. The season 3 trailer finds Sheila lusting over the flesh of a heavily tattooed next-door neighbor, who she refers to as a "walking protein shake." While everything is fun and games, with some relationship bumps, it looks like season 3 is going to introduce a new threat to the Hammond's way of life.
While all relationships go through ups and downs, the Hammonds have a different thing going, which needs more compromise than a normal relationship. In the Santa Clarita Diet season 3 trailer, Joel seems to be considering going down the zombie route with Sheila, while thinking about how it will affect his current life. Living forever does sound like an okay idea, but is it worth it? With a growing audience, the hit Netflix series is going to be bringing the Hammond family into some new territory, which sees Joel tied to a chair and getting stabbed in the chest.
Santa Clarita Diet showrunner Victor Fresco talked about the new threat that the Hammonds will run into in season 3. That threat is the Knights of Serbia, who are descendants of the original Knights of Serbia from 500 years ago. The Knights are looking to stop the undead and are hunting them to stop further outbreak. Fresco explains.
"We like the idea that there are other people out there - not the government - that are looking into this, and it's a threat to Sheila and obviously to Joel also, so we'll track that story into season three."
Santa Clarita Diet season 3 premieres March 29th, exclusively on Netflix. All episodes will be available for fans to binge over that weekend as many prepare for the release of HBO's Game of Thrones. Netflix's horror comedy has been gaining a wider audience since its debut in 2017 and season 3 could end up being the most-watched. There's a lot going on, but the Hammond family is keeping their humor intact while the Knights of Serbia are on the hunt.
