One of the biggest surprises to hit Netflix this year was Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's gritty reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch with the new series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina starring Kiernan Shipka. The first part (or, you know, Season 1) of the revamped series just premiered over on the streaming giant this past Halloween and it was a spooky delight. And it looks like I'm not the only one that thought so as today we already have word that Netflix has officially ordered 16 more episodes of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which will air in two parts (parts 3 & 4).

Parts 3 & 4 are all set to begin production sometime in 2019. Wait, Parts 3 & 4, you say. Yeah, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a bit kooky in that regard. You see, originally the series was picked up by Netflix in two parts, or again, you know, two seasons, of 10 episodes apiece. So it makes a little bit of sense - or at the very least is keeping with the form - that Netflix would snag two more seasons at one grasp as well. Part two is all set to premiere April 5, 2019, by the way. Creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had this to say in a statement.
"Praise Satan! I'm so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world's most famous teen witch. And I'm thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina's chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka."
This news comes to us on the heels of the hit Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special that just went live on Netflix called A Midwinter's Tale. That special episode followed this synopsis:
"The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice - the longest night of the year - when families gather together around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols, tell ghost stories and huddle against the supernatural creatures that come out to cause mischief. Since the Winter Solstice is when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, it's the perfect time to conduct a séance - which Sabrina convenes, to try and contact her mother. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors - both welcome and unwelcome - and you never know what might come down the chimney."
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as a whole imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature - half-witch, half-mortal - while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.
The killer cast includes the likes of Shipka as Sabrina along with /chilling-adventures-of-sabrina-trailer-netflix/Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, and Gavin Leatherwood. Newcomers for parts 3 & 4 include Jedidiah Goodacre as Dorian Gray and Alexis Denisof as Mary Wardwell's boyfriend, Adam Masters. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as the chief creative officer of Archie Comics, is the showrunner for the series. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater, and Lee Toland Krieger. The drama hails from Warner Bros. Television-based Berlanti Productions.
Once again, Parts 3 & 4 will begin production in 2019, Part 2 is all set to premiere over on Netflix on April 5, 2019, and Part 1 is currently available to screen in its entirety on Netflix as we speak.
