The Riverdale writers are not feeling the love from fans at the moment. In a recent interview, Mr. Chipping actor Sam Witwer revealed that he was less than enthusiastic about the way his character exited the show. He then threw some subtle shade towards the writing room. For fans of the show, they're used to some weirdness out of the characters, but Mr. Chipping's suicide was a bit much for just about everybody to handle. Witwer had this to say.

"As for why that character jumps out a window, I have no idea. But I read the script and laughed. I was like, 'Right, of course. Of course he does.' I'd love to say I had deep thoughts about the whole thing, but I don't think that's really the way they work over there."

After the interview was published, the Riverdale writers caught wind of the comment and retaliated in a rather harsh way. Responding to the interview on social media, the official Twitter account for the writers said, "Mystery Solved: It's because everyone wanted to PUSH you out the window, Sam." They concluded their clapback with, "Stay Classy and safe." The tweet is still up for everybody to see and fans are not happy.

Mr. Chipping could have had a lot more to do on Riverdale and the fans know that. One fan said, "Don't bash actors for speaking their heart about the script and the show. He could have been a really popular and fan favorite character but ya'll killed him." Another fan got straight to the point and stated, "He said what we're all thinking," in reference to Sam Witwer's comments about the writing on the show.

The majority of Riverdale fans are standing behind Sam Witwer's comments. "Your tweet is immature and unprofessional," said another fan of the hit series. The writers are currently being torn apart for the comments about Witwer, but they seem to imply that the actor may have been difficult on the set. That has not been confirmed at this time, though it seems to be the intent behind their message back to Witwer. Even so, that's a pretty crazy thing to say to someone on social media.

The Riverdale writers and Sam Witwer obviously did not get along, but the actor's comments don't really seem all that bad. In terms of playing his character, he probably would have liked a little more insight into how to do so, which they allegedly were not providing. Other stars from the show have yet to step up and mention anything, leaving the fans to continuously rip the writers on social media.
