Back in December, just a month before Riverdale premiered, it was revealed that the iconic Molly Ringwald has signed on for a recurring role as Mary Andrews, the mother of Archie Andrews (KJ Apa). Today we have our first look at Molly Ringwald as Mary Andrews, who kicks off her multi-episode recurring arc in the Thursday, April 13 episode, entitled Chapter 10: The Lost Weekend. While we don't get too many details about what's happening in this image, it's clear that both Mary and her estranged husband Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) are attending some sort of formal affair.

The photo debuted on People.com today, which shows Mary Andrews wearing a formal black dress, and Fred Andrews donning a white tuxedo. The initial report from December revealed that Mary Andrews had left home two years ago to "chase her dreams," although she has come back to Riverdale in her family's "hour of need," while also reconnecting with her old friends Hermione (Marisol Nichols) and Alice (Madchen Amick). That report also mentions a Homecoming Dance, so it's possible that's why Fred and Mary are all dressed up. Here's the official synopsis for the April 13 episode, The Lost Weekend below, which reveals another reason why Mary has come back to town.

"When Fred (Luke Perry) decides to finalize the divorce with Archie's mother Mary (guest star Molly Ringwald), Archie (KJ Apa) hides his true feelings. Archie tries to win Valerie (guest star Hayley Law) back with a romantic evening, however, Betty (Lili Reinhart) hijacks his plans when she decides to throw Jughead (Cole Sprouse) a surprise birthday party. Once Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) learns of the party, she decides to make it interesting and things quickly get out of control. Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) contemplates whether she should participate in the deposition to help get her Dad released."

Before this episode airs, though, The CW will debut Chapter Nine: La Grande Illusion on Thursday, April 6, with the network releasing the first trailer for this episode, which you can see below. This episode follows Archie as he reluctantly agrees to escort Cheryl to her family's official start of maple syrup tapping because he gets an offer that could help his future. Archie starts to become skeptical of the real reason the Blossoms are so eager to help him, however he gets some helpful information for Betty about her sister. Veronica is trying to be nice and unbeknownst to her, befriends a classmate that her father's illegal doings has hurt. Hermione is conflicted about telling Fred the truth, while Alice is ready to get revenge on the Blossoms once and for all with the help of her two daughters.

The CW has already handed out a Riverdale Season 2 renewal, although it isn't clear yet if the show will return in the fall, or in mid-season once again. The Riverdale cast includes KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Sarah Habel as Ms. Grundy, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Shannon Purser as Ethel Muggs and Robin Givens as Mayor Sierra McCoy.
