The official trailer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is here. Nickelodeon debuted the trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, which is the latest animated series based on the comic book created by Kevin Eastman in 1984. There have been many iterations of the heroes in a half shell over the years in just about every medium imaginable, but this looks to be something quite different than anything we've seen previously.

This trailer doesn't offer much in the way of plot, but it does showcase the modern and stylized approach to the series. There is a lots of flashy action and it's extremely colorful. The core cast for the new Ninja Turtles series includes Omar Miller as Raph, Ben Schwartz as Leo, Josh Brener as Donnie, Brandon Mychal Smith as Mikey, Kat Graham as April O'Neil, and Eric Bauza as Splinter. Nickelodeon released a new synopsis along with the trailer, which does offer some plot details. The synopsis reads as follows.

The Ninja Turtles are one of those interesting pop culture creations that has so many various versions that the definitive version changes from person to person, or generation to generation. For many, it's the 1987 animated series. For others, it's the live-action movies from the 90s. Perhaps for the younger generation, it's the more recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series that debuted in 2012 on Nickelodeon. What's clear is that these characters have endured for decades and something about them, regardless of the particular version, resonates deeply with people.

The new show was given a 26-episode order by the network. It is co-executive produced by Andy Suriano (Samurai Jack) and Ant Ward, who worked as the supervising produce on the network's previous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show. Animation veteran and legendary voice actor Rob Paulsen, who has previously worked on Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toon Adventures and the original Ninja Turtles animated series, amongst many other projects, is voice directing the series.

Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche of Animaniacs also reunite on the new series as Foot Lieutenant, the leader of the Foot Clan, and Foot Brute, his right hand man, respectively. Guest stars will include Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Rhys Darby (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle).
