Netflix has released a new trailer for Ratched. This original series has a great many layers to it. First off, it's the latest from American Horror Story creator, Ryan Murphy, who developed the show with his frequent collaborator Ian Brennan. The suspenseful drama series tells the origin story of nurse Mildred Ratched, who movie lovers will know from the 1975 cinematic classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Sarah Paulson, another frequent Murphy Collaborator, stars in the leading role. As we can see from the trailer, this is going to be a big, colorful horror-laced spectacle.

The trailer kicks off with some colorful shots showcasing the look of the series, as well as an uncomfortable interaction between our lead character and an unsuspecting gas station attendant. We then see Nurse Ratched arriving at her new hospital where she quickly gets up to some suspicious activity. She has curious methods and rubs quite a few people who work at the hospital the wrong way. The whole thing is loaded with production value and is very grandiose. It looks both stylish and expensive. It also has Ryan Murphy's fingerprints all over it.

However, her gears are always turning and as she begins to make her way into the mental health care system and those in it, Mildred's stylish exterior hides a growing darkness that has been brewing inside of her for a long time.

Ryan Murphy signed a hugely rich overall deal with Netflix back in 2018 that was said to be worth a staggering $300 million. The deal has finally started producing results recently. Murphy also created The Politician and Hollywood for the streaming service. Murphy, thanks to AHS, Glee, Scream Queens and other hits, became one of the most in-demand names in all of TV over the last decade or so. Ratched is set to arrive on September 18 exclusively on the Netflix streaming service. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
