HBO Max has released the first trailer for Ridley Scott's Raised by Wolves. The footage looks very much like it came from the iconic sci-fi director, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who is familiar with his work. The sci-fi project marks Scott's television series directorial debut for American audiences and HBO Max has announced when we'll finally be able to see it, which, thankfully, isn't too far away. Raised by Wolves is set to premiere Thursday, September 3rd on HBO Max.

From executive producer Ridley Scott, Raised by Wolves centers on two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task, which is teased right from the start of the dark first trailer. Scott directed the first two episodes of the 10-episode series and serves as an executive producer.

While there's a lot going on in the Raised by Wolves trailer, it doesn't really give too much away. There is light and calm, all filtered through a dark and cold lens, which suddenly shifts to darkness with violence. There even appears to be a horror and thriller element to the series as we see creepy monsters stalking the humans and androids. Whatever the case may be, the series looks dark and twisted, which means that fans of Ridley Scott's work are more than likely in for a treat when September 3rd arrives.

The Raised by Wolves cast includes Amanda Collin (A Conspiracy of Faith), Abubakar Salim (Jamestown), Winta McGrath (Red Dog: True Blue), Niamh Algar (The Virtues), Jordan Loughran (Emerald City), Matias Varela (Narcos), Felix Jamieson (Game of Thrones), Ethan Hazzard (The Long Song), Aasiya Shah (Call the Midwife) Ivy Wong (Star Wars: Rogue One), and Travis Fimmel (Vikings). Fimmel is made to seem like he fills the role of "the big, bad wolf" mentioned in the children's story, which ominously recited in the trailer. However, there appears to be a pretty big twist at play for those who make it to the end of the trailer.

Trauma also seems to be a big component to the Raised by Wolves formula. With the brief synopsis and trailer, prospective viewers should have more than enough information to go off of to see if they're going to invest some time into the new HBO Max series. The show is produced by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions, with Scott, writer and creator Aaron Guzikowski, David W. Zucker (The Man in the High Castle), Jordan Sheehan (The Terror), Adam Kolbrenner (Prisoners), and Mark Huffam (The Martian) serving as executive producers.
