Alcon Television Group, the newly-formed TV division of Alcon Entertainment, has secured the rights to Terry Moore's comic book Rachel Rising.

The comic follows a woman named Rachel, who wakes up dead in a shallow grave, as she tries to piece together how she died. She ends up crossing paths with several friends, along with a mysterious blonde woman and a sadistic young girl named Zoe, who is on a killing spree. The mystical history of witchcraft and magic in her local town also come into play within the story.

The show is said to have some similarities with AMC's hit zombie drama The Walking Dead. Alcon's Andrew A. Kosove, Broderick Johnson, and Sharon Hall will executive produce alongside Ben Roberts, who served as a production consultant on The Walking Dead.

The comic book was nominated for a 2012 Harvey Award for best new series. Alcon is currently looking for a showrunner, with several networks expressing their interest in the series.
