Netflix's extremely popular series, The Punisher, will begin filming Season 2 later this month, according to a new report. Season 1 of The Punisher was a hit and it wasn't long after its premiere that Season 2 was officially announced by Netflix and Marvel. The Punisher joined the rest of Netflix's Marvel roster after the reaction that the character received on Daredevil. Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle easily stole the show, making it a no-brainer to develop a standalone Punisher series.

According to a new report, The Punisher Season 2 will begin filming at the end of this month, on February 26th, to be exact. It's also been reported that the show will be returning to New York City for filming, just like Season 1. The Punisher Season 2 is going under the same production title of Crime, which was used for Season 1. And although production can film anywhere, most of the filming will stay in New York City. The comics have Frank Castle in other locations including Florida and California, but it appears that he'll be staying put to continue the story from Season 1.

Since The Punisher Season 2 will take place in New York City once again, it seems logical that we'll see Frank Castle going even further underground and out of the eyes of law enforcement. Billy Russo, aka Jigsaw, will definitely be on the hunt for Castle, depending on how far ahead, if at all, Season 2 will take place after the events of Season 1. If the story decides to take place directly following the events of Season 1, Jigsaw might be put on hold for a bit to regain his strength. However, we could glimpse into the transformation from Russo into Jigsaw.

As for New York City, Netflix and Marvel were able to obtain a tax deal, which was a huge money saver. It would be wise to take advantage of the tax cut, if it is offered for Season 2 of The Punisher. Even if it films in New York, there's still ways to make areas look like different locations, so we could see Frank Castle in Florida and California, even if its shot all in New York like Season 1 was. This is all speculation at this point, since it's too early to tell.

There is no release date set for The Punisher Season 2, but it's safe to assume that we could see it at the end of the year, like Season 1. Netflix had an awesome promotional campaign that had audiences guessing for months when the show would drop, only to surprise release the date. Netflix is on a bit of promotional roll with the mystery release date of The Punisher and the flat-out surprise release of Cloverfield 3 a few weeks ago.
