The Punisher Season 2 was recently announced by Netflix and a new report claims that the show will take place in New York City again while keeping its original production title of Crime. Season 1 of the show was an instant hit for Netflix and it took the streaming giant and Marvel no time to reveal that there will be a second season to continue Frank Castle's story. The Punisher feels darker and cut off from the rest of the Marvel universe, which works really well for the series and even gained new fans who are not usually into comic book shows or projects as a result.

Omega Underground reports that The Punisher Season 2 will take place in New York City and is working under the same production title of Crime, which was used for Season 1. The report is also careful to point out that filming can still happen elsewhere, but it seems logical that most of the filming will stay in New York City. The comic book stories have Frank Castle (played by Jon Bernthal) in other locations including Florida and California, but it appears that he'll be staying put to continue the story. It is unknown when production will begin for the second season of Punisher, but it is safe to assume that it will occur at some point this year.

Since the production will remain in New York City, it seems logical to think that we'll see Frank Castle go even further underground, out of the eyes of law enforcement. In addition, Billy Russo, aka Jigsaw, will more than likely be on the hunt for Mr. Castle and perhaps Micro's family when the new season begins. However, this is all speculation at this point. We'll have to wait until some more news and casting is announced via Netflix and Marvel. Jigsaw might not even pop up in The Punisher Season 2 and we might see a new villainous threat.

Another reason to keep The Punisher in New York City may have a logistic purpose. The original slate of Netflix shows for Marvel Studios were reportedly part of a tax deal with the city of New York, and something similar could be in the works still for Marvel and Netflix. As previously noted, there's still a chance that production will move elsewhere after starting in New York. It is still too early to tell what will happen with Season 2 of The Punisher, but there is a wealth of material to draw from that could see Frank Castle moving to another location while in hiding.

The Punisher Season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in 2019, but nothing official has been announced at this time. Staying in New York City may prove to be tough for Frank Castle, which would in turn, be great for the show. But where will he be hiding out this time around and who will be coming after him? We'll just have to wait until Season 2 hits Netflix in 2019. You can read more about The Punisher Season 2 remaining in New York City courtesy of Omega Underground.
