Production on Netflix's The Punisher recently wrapped, which means the series is heading into the post-production phase. The series has just added a very important piece to that post-production puzzle by bringing in veteran composer Tyler Bates to do the soundtrack for the show. Marvel will be keeping it in the family, as Bates has composed the original music for both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

According to Comicbook.com, Tyler Bates has officially signed on to do the original music for The Punisher, which is set to hit Netflix later this year. Though, the streaming service has yet to provide an official release date for the series yet. While Bates has worked with Marvel before, it is a safe bet that The Punisher will be quite a bit different for him. Not only will he be working for the medium of TV, as opposed to composing for a movie, but tonally speaking, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Punisher are extremely different. That said, Tyler Bates has worked on some projects with a darker tone in the past, such as John Wick, The Belko Experiment and Watchmen.

Many Marvel fans have noticed that there hasn't been much in the way of crossover between the TV side of things and the movies. So, even though this isn't exactly the same as having Daredevil show up to fight a bad guy alongside Captain America, it does show a little bit of crossover and working together to some degree, at least behind the scenes. Sort of. It will give Tyler Bates a bit more of a chance to possibly stand out as a composer within the framework of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and Awesome Mix Vol. 2 have been the centerpieces of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, musically speaking.

Not much has been announced in terms of story or overall plot details for The Punisher season 1, but Jon Bernthal is coming back as Frank Castle following his breakout performance in Daredevil season 2. Deborah Ann Woll is also returning as Karen Page and there will be some new additions to the cast in the form of Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro, Amber Rose Revah as Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani and Ben Barnes as Frank Castle's best friend Billy Russo. It was also recently revealed that Rosario Dawson won't return as Claire Temple, which will be the first Marvel Netflix series she hasn't appeared in.

Outside of the cast and some set photos that have made their way out there, we have also seen a few posters for The Punisher that surfaced online. Most recently, a promo poster for the series featuring the whole cast, which was given out at the wrap party surfaced on Twitter, which you can check out for yourself below. The Punisher season 1 will arrive on Netflix in 2017, but first, The Defenders season 1 will arrive on August 18. 2017. Though, there is no indication that Frank Castle will show up in that show.
