Seven years after it went off the air, Fox's Prison Break returned to San Diego Comic-Con yesterday with a new panel featuring the cast and producers. While we still don't know exactly when the show will premiere yet, the panelists unveiled the new trailer for this event series, teasing that, despite the events of the TV movie Prison Break: The Final Break, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is actually alive, and locked up once again. There is no doubt that Prison Break is back and ready for its biggest escape yet.
In the thrilling new event series, original Prison Break series stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar and Paul Adelstein are reunited for an all-new adventure spanning the globe and featuring the signature thrills and cliffhangers that were hallmarks of the original series when it aired on Fox from 2005-2009. The original action drama centered on Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller, The Loft), a young man determined to save his convicted brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell, DC's Legends of Tomorrow), from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape from prison. In the all-new event series, filmed on location in Morocco, clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael may be alive.
Lincoln and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies, Colony, The Walking Dead), Michael's wife until he was assumed dead, reunite to engineer the series' biggest escape ever, as three of Fox River State Penitentiary's most notorious escapees, Sucre (Amaury Nolasco, Telenovela), T-Bag (Robert Knepper, Heroes) and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar, The Mentalist), are pulled back into the action. Prison Break was an immediate critical and ratings hit when it premiered on Fox in the fall of 2005, garnering Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series - Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama (Miller). The original producing team, including series creator Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead, will return to executive-produce the new series, with Scheuring serving as showrunner/writer.
Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Robert Knepper, and producer Vaun Wilmott greet fans fresh out of production to share their behind-the-scenes experiences from set and show a special sneak peek of all new footage! Prison Break is slated to debut sometime in midseason on Fox, although the network hasn't issued a premiere date yet. Along with the full trailer that debuted at Comic-Con yesterday afternoon, we also have a panel highlights video, featuring the cast shedding new light on this series.
While we still likely won't know how Michael Scofield was mysteriously brought back from the dead, we previously reported that series creator Paul Scheuring, pitched a "logical and believable explanation" of how Michael Scofield is still alive, which won't completely ignore the Prison Break: The Final Break TV movie, where he was killed. Last week, we saw storyboards from the series premiere, which reveals a scene where Lincoln is being run off the road by two new villains, Van Gogh (Steve Mouzakis) and A&W (Marina Benedict).
