It's the end of the road, as Pose will end this summer with an abbreviated third and final season on FX. On Friday, it was announced by the network that the show would conclude with a seven-episode season 3, with the season premiere arriving on Sunday, May 2. The series finale will follow with the final episode airing on June 6.

"We got to tell the exact story we wanted, as we wanted to tell it, and I'm incredibly honored and grateful," series co-creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement.

Co-creator Steven Canals added: "I, along with my incredible collaborators, never intended on changing the TV landscape. I simply wanted to tell an honest story about family, resilience, and love. How fortunate am I to have done that for three seasons."

"Words cannot truly express my gratitude and appreciation for those who have given FX and the world the gift that is Pose," FX chairman John Landgraf also said. "Pose has always been a family drama - one about acceptance and inclusion, pain and joy, struggle and perseverance and, most of all, love. The third and final season is a fitting and beautiful ending to this story."

Pose actor Angel Bismark Curiel also addressed the end of the series with a video posted to Twitter.

"It's very bittersweet. I'm excited for new beginnings, right? I think we all should be. But, also, my heart is aching," Curiel says. "You spend three years with these storylines and these characters and these people, and it's naturally very hard to go from spending 18 hours days with these folks, from one day to the next, and not having them around as much."

In 2019, Pose had been renewed for a third season ahead of the premiere of season 2. The cast and crew had just wrapped filming on the season's premiere episode when the pandemic forced production to be shut down. Canals had previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he envisioned the series lasting for about five seasons, but what's most important is that they felt they told the story they wanted to tell, as Murphy says that they have with the final season.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals, Pose stars Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Billy Porter, and Angelica Ross. The series is set in the 80s in the first season with NE8eCAKcYvuZca||season two delving into the early 90s}, following dancers and models who compete for trophies and recognition in the ball culture world. Pose Season 3 will move the story forward from 1991 to 1994.

During its run, Pose has been a strong contender at awards season. Billy Porter took the win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the show. Pose was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series with both earning similar nominations at the Golden Globes.

The final season of Pose will debut on FX on Sunday, May 2, at 10 p.m. with two of the last seven episodes. Fans can then watch the series finale on June 6. This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter.
