Peaky Blinders has added Boardwalk Empire star Stephen Graham to the cast. The actor is set to star in the highly anticipated season 6, which has been placed on hold for the time being, for obvious reasons. In a new interview, Graham says, "I was supposed to be starting Peaky Blinders but that has been put on hold indefinitely. My agent spent a lot of time putting that together." This is some bittersweet news for fans of the show, but we should get an update in the near future.

Stephen Graham did not offer up any other details on his Peaky Blinders season 6 role. Cillian Murphy, who plays Tommy Shelby on the hit series thanked the show's crew for their "forbearance and patience" during the shutdown earlier this week. "We will be back as soon as we can, I promise, causing chaos and knocking heads as usual," said Murphy. Season 5 was explosive and left fans excited for the next season, which was briefly able to start production.

Peaky Blinders star Helen McCrory recently revealed what happened to the production. According to McCrory, she spent one day doing hair and makeup and tests, though it became evident that "something very big is coming," pretty early on. The actress went on to say, "The next morning I woke and told my producer I'm not comfortable doing this anymore... Cillian Murphy did the same." McCrory concluded by stating, "Together with the producers, we approached the BBC and said we're going to pull this now before we have to do this down the line."

Peaky Blinders is an epic, gangster family series set in the lawless streets of Birmingham, UK and beyond. It follows the evolution of leader Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) from backstreet crime lord to legitimate businessman and member of parliament. The series explores the notions that violence destroys lives, empires rise and fall over time, and class divisions are corrosive. Season 5, returned in October 2019 and found the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929.

Peaky Blinders cast members include Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, Helen McCrory as Polly Gray, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Kate Phillips as Linda Shelby, Natasha O'Keeffe as Lizzie Stark, Aidan Gillen as Aberama Gold, Jack Rowan as Bonnie Gold, Charlie Murphy as Jessie Eden, Kingsley Ben-Adir as Col Ben Younger, Harry Kirton as Finn Shelby, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Ian Peck as Curly, and poet/musician Benjamin Zephaniah as Jeremiah Jesus. As of now, it is unclear when work on season 6 will be able to start back up again. With that being said, movie theaters are planning to open by July, so we could see productions start up around that time too, though that could change. The Stephen Graham casting news was first announced by Deadline.
