Ozark is coming to an end on Netflix. The streaming service has renewed the hit drama series for a fourth and final season that will bring the Byrde family's saga to a close. But fans of the show have reason to celebrate as season 4 of the show will be supersized, with Netflix expanding the episode order for its final run.

All three previous seasons consisted of ten episodes. Ozark season 4 will feature 14, but those episodes will be split into two parts, with seven episodes each. The series cast includes Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, along with Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan and Lisa Emery. Chris Mundy is set to return as showrunner and writer. Bateman had this to say about the renewal.

"A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes. I'm excited to end with a bang(s)."

The show, generally speaking, centers on a financial advisor named Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) who becomes a launderer for a Mexican drug cartel. His family then moves to the Lake of the Ozarks to make good for the cartel. There is no word currently on what the plot for season 4 will consist of. Chris Mundy had this to say in a statement.

"We're so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes' saga right. It's been such a great adventure for all of us, both on-screen and off, so we're thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible."

Netflix launched the series in July 2017. While it had a somewhat quiet debut, it has picked up real steam for the service over the years and has gone on to become a huge hit. Netflix says season 3 was streaming by nearly 30 million people in its first four weeks of release. The series has also been nominated for 14 Emmys, winning two. Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix, had this to say.

"Ozark is a gripping drama that has captivated audiences all around the world and garnered tremendous critical acclaim. We're so grateful to Chris, Jason, Laura, Julia and the entire cast and crew for all their tireless dedication to the show and can't wait to see how the Byrdes' journey comes to a close."

Jason Bateman, Chris Mundy, Mark Williams, John Shiban, Patrick Markey and Bill Dubuque serve as executive producers on the series. Laura Linney is set as a co-executive producer for season 4. There is no word yet on how soon production could begin, nor is it clear if Netflix has a release window in mind for the show's final run. It would probably not return until sometime in 2021 at the earliest, as studios are still sorting out how to resume production following the shutdown. This news was previously reported by Deadline.
