Netflix has just released the official trailer and poster for Season 6 of Orange Is the New Black. The hit show left viewers in a pretty dark place after a riot started as a result of Poussey's death. The ladies of Litchfield gained control of the prison and then all hell broke loose. The ladies are back, stronger than ever and they have nothing to lose. Netflix teases that maximum security will test bonds and new allegiances will be formed. Orange is the New Black Season 6 launches globally on Netflix Friday, July 27th.
Keeping up with the trend from past seasons, Season 6 of Orange is the New Black takes place one week after the emergency response team stormed Litchfield Penitentiary. The ladies have been torn apart, literally and figuratively, as they enter a new facility in the latest season. The women have to start from the bottom and have to navigate new rules and power dynamics, getting hazed by inmates and tortured by guards. After the events of Season 5, new charges will bring new deals that will test the bonds that have been made over the course of the series.
In the new trailer for Season 6 of Orange is the New Black, we see Piper (Taylor Schilling), Taystee (Danielle Brooks), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Suzanne (Uzo Aduba), Nicky (Natasha Lyonne), Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore), Gloria (Selenis Leyva), Blanca (Laura Gomez) and Frieda (Dale Soules) all having to get used to their new surroundings. Suzanne declares, "Navigating adult female friendships is so complicated!" Red is seen telling interrogators just how strong her girls are, stating that they have "iron wills and f*cking nothing to lose."
As with all seasons of Orange is the New Black, there will be comedy mixed with drama and with Season 6 placing them all back to square one, all bets are off. The temptation to flip is in the air in the new trailer and it looks like some of those close friendships will be put to the ultimate test when better deals are offered. The nearly 2-and-half-minute trailer is just what Orange is the New Black fans need to wait out the next few weeks.
As previously noted, Orange is the New Black Season 6 will premiere Friday, July 27th on Netflix, that is unless it gets leaked again like Season 5. Laura Prepon's Alex character is not shown in the new trailer, which may be because the actress had a baby prior to filming, so Alex might not be featured in the latest season. The trailer also confirms that Daya (Dascha Polanco), who left Season 5 early, is in maximum security for starting the riot.
