Back in March, we reported that Netflix acquired the TV series Sense8 from executive producers Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski. The initial announcement called the series "a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted," although no other plot details were available...Until now.

TVLine is reporting that the series follows eight people in different parts of the world who are connected by a shared, violent vision. The show will follow their separate stories, while one group of outsiders tries to bring them all together and another entity tries to kill them all.

Here's a description of the characters who will be series regulars, none of whom have been cast yet.

"Among the regulars (as yet uncast) are: a closeted Mexican telenovela hunk, an Icelandic party girl, a German safe-cracker, a Korean businesswoman, an African bus driver and a transgender American blogger (a la Lana?). Perhaps most intriguing, though, are Jonas, an apparently magic African-American who appears to all of the "visionaries," and his evil counterpart, Mr. Whispers (arguably the best-named villain since The X-Files' Cigarette-Smoking Man)."

Production is slated to begin in June, with shooting to take place in the UK, Seoul, Mumbai, Nairobi, Berlin, Mexico City, San Francisco and Chicago.
