Not since 1999 have we been treated to a new episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Sure, the Rifftrax gang has done their best to provide the same kind of entertainment via live events and similar movie riffs, but it just hasn't been the same. That will soon change because the Kickstarter-funded, brand new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 finally has a premiere date on Netflix and luckily, it is in the not-too-distant future!

Last night, many of the Kickstarter backers who helped fund the new season of MST3K were treated to a screening of the revival's first episode. Following the screening, it was reported by Nerdist and then confirmed by Netflix in a tweet that Mystery Science Theater 3000 season 11 will hit the streaming service on April 14. Here is what Netflix had to say in their tweet.

"Get ready for the Robot Roll-Call: @MST3K is coming to Netflix April 14!"

Unfortunately, none of the episode titles have been revealed, so we still don't know what movies the new gang on the Satellite of Love will be riffing on, but Netflix did release a brand new photo with the cast. The photo shows us our first look at the new MST3K cast assembled together, which includes Jonah Ray as the new host, Hampton Yout as Crow T. Robot, Baron Vaughn as Tom Servo as well as Patton Oswalt and Felicia Day, who will be playing the new mad scientists on the show. Series creator Joel Hodgson, who is also featured in the photo, released a statement to go along with the announcement, once again thanking the fans. Here is what he had to say.

"Joel here. It's been a really busy couple of weeks, and we just finished our third (and last) "Red Carpet Kickstarter Screening" of the first new episode of Mystery Science Theater, Experiment 1101. I'll tell you more about those very soon, but right now, I'm writing to share some very important news: The new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will premiere on Netflix on April 14, 2017. You know, I always promised that I'd tell you as soon as I found out, and Netflix actually just told me as we were finishing the Q&A session for our screening here in Los Angeles. So, I wanted to write and tell you right away. Anyway, I'm off to meet some of the wonderful backers who came out for tonight's screening, but I wanted to make sure you heard the news from me before you see it somewhere else. I'll have more news for you soon. And just so you don't worry, we promise: if your rewards include the new episodes - or the livestream screening of the first new episode - we'll make sure you have them by April 14, when the new episodes premiere on Netflix None of this would be happening without you. I'm really grateful."

The Kickstarter campaign that was held in order to make Mystery Science Theater 3000 Season 11 happen was one of the most successful in history. The initial goal of $2 million was surpassed by a mile, with the campaign ultimately bringing in $5.7 million, which means we are getting 14 brand new rifftastic episodes when the show hits Netflix on Friday, April 14. So clear your calendars and get ready to binge. You can check out the brand new MST3K cast photo for yourself below.
