The Hard Times of RJ Berger

  • MTV
  • 2 seasons
  • Comedy, Family

The Hard Times of RJ Berger orbits the hilariously-hellish life of a deeply unpopular high school student (Paul Iacono) and his scheming, sex-obsessed best friend, Miles Jenner (Jareb Dauplaise). Other than pining after the girl of his dreams, Jenny Swanson (Amber Lancaster), receiving daily beatings from the meanest jock in school, Max Owens (Jayson Blair), and evading the stalker-ish advances of Lily Miran (Kara Taitz), there really wasn't much excitement in RJ's life. That was, until his anatomical gift was accidentally exposed to the entire school.

In a single moment, RJ went from anonymous to infamous, and for the first time in his life, he felt a tiny sliver of confidence. Swept up in this man-sized wave of recognition, viewers watched RJ claw his way out of the popularity basement. Whether trying to get laid, dealing with his bizarre parents, or simply navigating the treacherous waters of high school, RJ lives out the stories -- good, bad and ugly -- that we all remember from high school. One mis-adventure at a time, fans see him grow from a shy, awkward boy into a slightly less shy and awkward young man.

Total Request Live

  • MTV
  • 1 season
  • Reality TV, Music Video

TRL: Total Request Live! TRL originated in 1998. It is still a very highly rated show on MTV where viewers around the country vote for the Top 10 Music Videos. After a video takes a run on the countdown for 50 days, it is "retired" from the show and is only shown again on special occasions. The videos used to stay on the countdown for 65 days, but then it changed to 50 days because a lot of videos never made it to 65 days. TRL has days where they replace artist's new videos with their old videos. They also sometimes have rival days where you can replace an artist's video with its rival's video. There are videos called 'On Deck' videos, which is a segment of videos 15-11 which just missed cracking into the Top 10. These videos used to be called 'Wannabes' but they wanted to show the exact placement of each video by specifying exactly where the video stands according to the number of votes it received.

Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory

The death-defying comedy genius of Rob Dyrdek reaches unprecedented levels of inspiration and laughter in the fifth season of Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, along with familiar faces Chris "Drama" Pfaff, Christopher "Big Black" Boykin, Scott "The Big Cat" Pfaff, Chanel West Coast, and his Ridiculousness co-host Sterling "Steelo" Brim. Dyrdek shocks the world in the season 5 premiere when he dubs himself "Supersonic Rob" and attempts a car stunt achieved by few men in daredevil history: The Corkscrew Flip -- a literal 360 degree "kickflip" car jump.

Rob's other adventures include: inviting Johnny Knoxville and Chris Pontius (Jackass) to train Drama in the fine art of getting "mowed down" by an angry bull, becoming an ordained minister in order to marry his sister to her boyfriend, and creating Dyrdek Day -- an official Los Angeles City-certified holiday celebrating kindness, hugs, and random charity toward everyone.

Rob also reinvents his pop icon alter-ego Bobby Light as an overweight superstar named "Blobby" Light, emerging from retirement to record a new single with Big Black and company titled, Chunky as Charged -- a celebration of all big people.

The adventure never seems to end for Rob and the Fantasy Factory cast. Season 5 proves that for every fantasy, there is a hilarious episode of television behind it.
