Netflix is getting in the Fluffy business. The company has been announcing new shows left and right over the past few years and now, they've got a new one coming down the pipeline headlined by a very popular comedian. The streaming service has announced a new series titled Mr. Iglesias, which will star popular comedian Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias in the lead role. The multi-camera series will see Iglesias playing a teacher in his former high school. Iglesias had this to say about the new show.

"A lot of my fans ask me what I would be if I wasn't a stand-up comic. I tell them a history teacher because I love history. So it's great that in this sitcom, I have the opportunity to live out my alternate reality had I not become Fluffy."

Mr. Iglesias centers on a lead character played by Gabriel Iglesias, a good-natured public high school teacher who works at the school he attended in his youth. He takes on teaching a group of gifted, misfit kids. His goal is to try and save them from being "counseled out" by a bully bureaucrat Assistant Principal, played by Oscar Nuñez, as well as trying to help them unlock their full potential.

The full cast for the series includes Sherri Shepherd (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa), Jacob Vargas (Next Friday), Maggie Geha (Gotham), Richard Gant (Daddy Day Camp), Cree Cicchino (Game Shakers) and Fabrizio Guido (Welcome to the Family). Kevin Hench, the man behind shows such as Last Man Standing and Cristela, serves as creator of the show. In addition to his duties as the show's star, Gabriel Iglesias also serves as an executive producer alongside, Hench, Ron DeBlasio and Joe Meloche.

Netflix is far and away the world's largest streaming service, for the time being, as they're closing in on 150 million subscribers worldwide. The company's growth started to balloon rapidly after they started producing original content, as opposed to focusing on licensing content from other studios. It's a strategy that's worked quite well up to this point for them, but it's also been costly, as they're investing literally billions on original TV shows and movies. But as the streaming space gets progressively more crowded, with Disney+ and more services on the way, they need to do what they can to appeal to as many audience members as possible.

Gabriel Iglesias, though best known for his stand up comedy, has quite a bit of on screen experience. He's had roles in movies like Magic Mike and he's also lent his voice to many animated projects, such as Norm of the North and Smurfs: The Lost Village. Mr. Iglesias Season 1 is set to arrive on June 1. The first season consists of 10 episodes Netflix has also released some new key art for the series, which we've included for you to check out as well.
