Mike Myers is coming back to the small screen, and he's bringing a whole bunch of characters with him. Netflix has ordered a new half-hour comedy series produced by and starring the former Saturday Night Live cast member. At the present time, very little has been revealed about Mike Myers Netflix Comedy but it's been explicitly stated that Myers will play "multiple characters" on the show. Beyond that, we're left to wonder and speculate wildly amongst ourselves.

The news was confirmed in a very brief press release sent out by Netflix. As is often the case, they like to keep details of their projects under wraps until closer to the release. In this case, there is no word on a title or what we can expect to see in the show, other than Mike Myers putting on many different hats, so to speak for roughly 30 minutes. It's also been confirmed that the "limited" comedy series will consist of six episodes. Myers had this to say about the new show in a brief statement.

"I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in."

For a handful of years, Mike Myers, the man behind the Austin Powers franchise and the voice of Shrek, had been keeping a pretty low profile. However, over the past couple of years, he's been making inroads back into the Hollywood landscape. He starred in Bohemian Rhapsody alongside Rami Malek, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury. The movie went on to gross more than $900 million at the global box office. Myers also hosted a revival of The Gong Show on ABC starting in 2017 as a character named Tommy Maitland. He also had a role in 2018's Terminal alongside Margot Robbie.

Dating back to his days on SNL, Mike Myers has become synonymous with the characters that he creates. Wayne's World became an early signature and led to a pair of very popular movies. Eventually, Myers expanded those exploits into his very own franchise, Austin Powers, which served as a very successful spoof of the James Bond movie series. Myers played a variety of characters, including the titular spy and his nemesis, Dr. Evil, in all three of those movies. So he's no stranger to playing multiple characters in one project. He's been teasing Austin Powers 4 for some time now, but that has yet to actually materialize.

If we allow for some speculation, could it be that Mike Myers is going to reprise some of his iconic characters on this new series? Or is it all going to be new creations? It seems, for the time being, things are left intentionally vague. Executive Producers for the series include Myers, John Lyons, Jason Weinberg. Associate Producers include Mackenzie Cyr and Justin Capraro-Gentuso. For now, there is no word on when the series will kick off production, nor is it clear when we can expect to see it actually arrive on Netflix.
