It looks like the Micronauts are finally going to make the jump from relatively obscure but beloved toy franchise to TV franchise. The Micronauts have had a following for a long time and Hasbro has tried over the years to bring the toys to life, be it as a TV series or a movie, unsuccessfully up to this point. However, as revealed by a new sale's guide on the company's official website, they are currently working on a Micronauts animated series that is set to debut in 2019.

There isn't a ton of information currently available for this Micronauts TV series, but the sales guide on Hasbro's website reveals that the series will be in production this year and that it will air sometime next year. Though, a network or platform has yet to be revealed. It's also said that the series will be targeting 6-11 year olds and that it will launch with 26, 22-minute episodes. So it sounds like this is pretty far along in the development process and that they feel rather confident about it. Here's the synopsis provided for the upcoming Micronauts animated series.

"When fate brings an unlikely team of alien space explorers to earth in pursuit of the evil Baron Karza, they make a shocking discovery, on our world they are the size of action figures! The Micronauts are small heroes in a big world but the stakes are higher than ever as their miniaturized size presents dangerous obstacles at every turn. Fortunately, they forge an alliance with teenager Cameron Ruck, who will join them in their pursuit of justice. Although the Micronauts are small in stature, their bravery and adventurous spirits remain larger than life."

Micronauts got their start as a line of toys in the late 70s and were originally produced until 1980. Since then, there have been a few small revivals, but a large cult following for the original toys has kept the brand alive. With Hasbro now in control of the property, they're looking to do a lot more than line some toy store shelves. This TV series proves that they're looking to make Micronauts into its own franchise, much in the way that Transformers and G.I. Joe have been franchised. IDW, which also publishes Transformers and G.I. Joe comics, has been publishing Micronauts comics since 2016. This new series is just the next step in the process.

It was also recently announced that Paramount Pictures, as part of their partnership to turn more Hasbro properties into movie franchises, is planning on releasing a Micronauts movie on October 16, 2020. No director or actors have been announced for the movie at the present time. The Hasbro sales guide, first spotted by the folks at Bleeding Cool, also features some concept art for the upcoming Micronauts animates series, which you can check out for yourself below. We'll be sure to keep you up to date as more details on the series are made available.
