Meg Ryan has signed on to provide narration for CBS' How I Met Your Mother spin-off entitled How I Met Your Dad.

We reported in February that Greta Gerwig is starring as Sally, a young woman in New York who has been married for a year but realizes the relationship is heading towards a divorce, as she finds comfort in her friends and family. Meg Ryan will provide the voice of "Future Sally" in narration. Like Bob Saget, who narrated How I Met Your Mother as the voice of "Future Ted," Meg Ryan's character will never be physically seen on the show.

How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas co-wrote the pilot script with Emily Spivey (Up All Night), with all three serving as executive producers. We reported in November that the spin-off may share the MacLaren's Pub location from How I Met Your Mother, where Ted (Josh Radnor), Marshall (Jason Segel), Robin (Cobie Smulders), Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) would frequently hang out, but that has not been confirmed.

This project will be the first major TV series commitment for Meg Ryan, who previously had a recurring role on Showtime's Web Therapy.
