One of the most anticipated TV projects in development is Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D., the ABC pilot created by Marvel's The Avengers director Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen. Production on the pilot is scheduled to begin next month, although we haven't heard when they may consider debuting the show, if ABC issues a series order. Executive producer Jeph Loeb recently revealed that they are aiming for a Fall 2013 debut, if everything goes according to plan.

"Well...we have a 'little' pilot for television that you might have heard about called Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. co-written, directed, and Executive Produced by none other than Joss Whedon! Working with Joss, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell on the show is a blast! And bringing in Clark Gregg to play Agent Phil Coulson -- the best! Hopefully we will be on in the Fall of 2013 on ABC!"

Along with Clark Gregg, Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Ming-Na as Agent Melinda May, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons, Ian De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, and Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward. The series is set within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, but will not include any of the superheroes from Marvel's The Avengers.

With that being said, Samuel L. Jackson, who played S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury in Marvel's The Avengers, recently revealed he would like to reprise his role for the series.

"I don't know. I keep hearing about it, and I haven't talked to Joss about it. But in my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in Charlie's Angels. At least be the voice!"

Only time will tell if Samuel L. Jackson (or just his voice} will be included in this potential new series.
