It's hard to imagine, but the Russo Brothers have admitted that they considered using Marvel TV characters in Infinity War. There's already so many characters in the epic movie that one can't really see being able to cram anyone else into that massive storyline. As it stands, Infinity War is crushing it at the box office and earning mostly positive reviews, which may have turned out differently had they tried to use some of the characters from the Marvel TV series. However, fans are still desperate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to address the Marvel TV characters.

In a new interview with Variety, Joe and Anthony Russo spoke about the enormous task of trying to put together Infinity War. They reveal that they considered just about everything while crafting the story with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. As it turns out, the directing duo along with Markus and McFeely even thought about introducing characters from the Marvel TV roster, like the Defenders, which include Daredevil, The Punisher, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Joe Russo had this to say.

"We made the briefest consideration of (including TV characters in Infinity War). When we're alone in a room with (screenwriters Christopher) Markus and (Stephen) McFeely, we consider every idea. We like thinking of everything. But it seemed like the story that had been told within the movies was so specific and elaborate already that once we started working through the story, we knew we had our hands full just with this set of characters and narratives."

While the Russo Brothers didn't have the time to add in any additional characters to Infinity War or the upcoming Avengers 4, Marvel fans should be excited that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg is reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson in Captain Marvel. Though the actor is excited about returning to the MCU, the movie takes place in the early 1990s, which is why he's able to return in the first place. As for sticking around for the future of the MCU, Gregg doesn't know what the future will hold, noting that he just answers the phone and shows up when they need him.

While the Marvel TV franchise takes place with in the same universe as the MCU, we have yet to see any of those characters make the crossover, which has been frustrating for fans. It should be comforting to know that the TV characters have at the very least been considered to jump on board the MCU. That just goes to show that it could very well happen in the near future, perhaps in phase four of the MCU.

Even though Marvel fans want to see the Marvel TV and MCU crossover, Infinity War and Avengers 4 are not the places to do it. Especially since Avengers 4 is adding a whole bunch of characters that were left out of Avengers 3. Captain Marvel is going to show up, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, the Wasp, Hank Pym, and Janet van Dyne, just to name a few will be gearing up to help take down Thanos once and for all. As for the Marvel TV roster, we'll just have to wait and see what the future holds. You can read the rest of the in-depth interview with the Russo Brothers at Variety.
