Netflix has just released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming Maniac series and it provides a journey into the minds of Jonah Hill and Emma Stone's characters. A brief teaser trailer was released a few weeks ago, but it did not feature any real footage from the upcoming Cary Joji Fukunaga-directed series. Instead it was used to tease the mysterious connection that Hill and Stone's characters have, which is explored further in the latest sneak peek. The trailer begins with an easy enough question: "Do you know where you are right now?"

Right away, it's evident that there is potential danger ahead for main characters Annie Landsberg (Emma Stone) and Owen Milgrim (Jonah Hill). Justin Theroux's Dr. James Mantleray is a doctor who claims that he can repair anything about the human mind with some pills that he invented, which may or may not have left previous patients catatonic. The 10-episode series tells the stories of Annie and Owen, two strangers drawn to the late stages of a mysterious pharmaceutical trial, each for their own reasons. Annie is disaffected and aimless, fixated on broken relationships with her mother and her sister; Owen, the fifth son of wealthy New York industrialists, has struggled his whole life with a disputed diagnosis of schizophrenia.

Annie Landsberg and Owen Milgrim attempt to solve their own minds in Maniac, which takes them on a series of adventures that blur the lines of reality. Owen and Annie have a strong connection that baffles the medical team supervising the new trial, and things start to look psychedelic. There's even a giant purple panda bear thrown into the mix and plenty of shots of Jonah Hill's Owen character with a mullet wig.

Maniac is perhaps best described by a piece of dialogue that Emma Stone's Annie character says: "This is some multi-reality brain magic sh*t." There's a lot going on and there are many different backdrops, including one that looks like Middle Earth from The Lord of the Rings. Other than that, viewers are left to their imagination about what this new experimental drug is doing to the minds of the main characters.

In addition to Jonah Hill, Emma Stone, and Justin Theroux, Netflix's Maniac cast also includes Sally Field, Jemima Kirke, Julia Garner, and Sonova Mizuno. The series created by Patrick Somerville and is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. Maniac features 10 episodes that will premiere on September 21st, exclusively on Netflix. After the first teaser trailer, potential viewers of the series were given a sneak peek at the connection that Owen and Annie have, but the new trailer takes that a step forward, while still keeping everything mysterious. Let's just hope that nobody ends up catatonic by the end of the series. You can watch the brand-new full length trailer for Maniac below, thanks to the Netflix YouTube channel.
