Sweet Christmas! Check out the new trailer for the Netflix original series Marvel's Luke Cage! We may have to wait until 2018 to see a black superhero headline a movie with Black Panther, but we have less than two months to wait until Mike Colter returns in Netflix's Luke Cage. Fans got a taste of him in Jessica Jones, but we are about to get a whole lot more of him when his show comes out next month, which we were already pretty excited about. However, Netflix decided to fan the flames and release a brand new, very exciting trailer for Luke Cage today.

Yesterday, the official Netflix Twitter account announced that the new trailer for Luke Cage would be debuting this morning. The account also revealed a new poster for the show, clearly ramping up the marketing as the release date for Luke Cage approaches. The first trailer for Luke Cage debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last month, showcasing just how bulletproof and powerful Power Man is. This new trailer gives fans even more to get excited about, and an even more in-depth look at what to expect when the show drops next month. Marvel's Luke Cage, which premieres globally on September 30, 2016 at 12:01am PT is the third show in the Defenders series to launch on Netflix. The series follows the releases of Marvel's Daredevil and Marvel's Jessica Jones, leading up to the future release of Marvel's Iron Fist, and ultimately, Marvel's The Defenders.

Luke Cage as a character has a long history in Marvel Comics as a genuinely formidable, very strong dude, but also as something of a mercenary, but only for the good. He and Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, who will be making his debut in a Netflix series next year, spent many years as the "Heroes for Hire," who would do good deeds, for a price. Luke Cage, also known as Power Man, gained his abilities from sabotaged experiment that left him with superhuman strength, and unbreakable skin, who attempts to rebuild his life in New York City. Ultimately, he gets pulled into conflict, all resulting from the past he is trying to bury. As was teased in Jessica Jones, the two are love interests for one another in the comic book world as well, so don't rule out a cameo from Krysten Ritter.

Luke Cage features a very promising, star-studded cast including fan-favorite Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Mahershala Ali (Cornell Stokes), Theo Rossi (Alvarez), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), and Frank Whaley (Detective Scarfe) long with the presence of showrunner and Executive Producer, Cheo Hodari Coker. This will also serve as another nice bit of diversity for Marvel, as they have been criticized a bit on the movie side of things for whitewashing, and for not letting a female superhero headline a movie yet. Jessica Jones beat the other girls to the punch by headlining her own series, and now Luke Cage is giving Colter a chance to headline his own show as a black superhero, which is another breath of fresh air in the diversity department.

Marvel Studios is currently ruling the box office, but Jeph Loeb and Marvel TV are proving that they want to be the best thing on the small screen as well. This new trailer, along with the really promising footage that was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con may make fans believe they can accomplish that goal. Marvel will debut all episodes of Luke Cage Season 1 on Netflix Friday, September 30. Be sure to check out the brand new trailer for Luke Cage for yourself below.
