If you haven't caught up with The Defenders on Netflix yet, there will be some minor SPOILERS below, at least in regards to the popular Luke Cage character Misty Knight, played by Simone Missick. She was one of the many characters from the Marvel Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to join forces with The Defenders to rid the scourge known as The Hand from Hell's Kitchen, and she certainly paid the price, but now our first photo from Luke Cage Season 2 confirms that Misty Knight will have a new look this season, that matches up with the comic book version of her character. This is your last chance to avoid The Defenders spoilers, so read on at your own risk.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the first photo from Luke Cage Season 2, which showcases Misty Knight's bionic arm, as she walks through a mechanic garage with the title character (Mike Colter). For those who have seen The Defenders all the way through, which debuted on August 18, Misty Knight had her arm sliced off by The Hand villain Bakuto (Ramon Rodriguez). When we last saw Misty, she was recovering in a hospital owned by Danny Rand (Finn Jones), while Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) oversaw her recovery.

As for the bionic arm, it matches up with Misty Knight from the comics, although it's unclear if this second season will include the same details from the comics. In the Marvel Comics, Misty Knight's bionic arm was designed by none other than Tony Stark and his Stark Industries company, after Misty lost her arm in a bombing. The arm grants her superhuman strength while allowing her to produce energy blasts and gravity fields, while even giving her the power to control robots. Still, there is no indication yet that any of these abilities will cross over from the comics to the TV series, but with production under way, hopefully we'll find out more soon.

The last we heard about this new season was last month when Marvel added two new cast members, Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis. Shakir is playing John McIver, described as "a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance." Dennis will play the role of 'Tilda Johnson' described as "a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her." Marvel and Netflix also announced last month that actress/filmmaker Lucy Liu is directing the premiere episode of Luke Cage Season 2, set to premiere in 2018. In addition to a slew of television and film credits, Liu made her directorial debut in 2011's short film, Meena and also directed four episodes of the CBS series, Elementary, which she also stars in.

Netflix has also announced that new seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will all premiere in 2018, and it's possible that a new season of Iron Fist may also debut next year, or the streaming service may hold off on that particular show until 2019. There have been rumors that there may not be another season of The Defenders, so it's possible that the streaming service may just focus on the individual characters from now on, but that could also lead into a number of different crossover possibilities within the individual shows. While we wait for more on Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2, take a look at the new photo of Simone Missick's Misty Knight, and her new bionic arm.
