It hasn't been a good couple of days for Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, who were publicly named as part of a bribery scheme earlier this week. The two television actresses are among 50 parents charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. According to the FBI, the parents involved are alleged to have made monetary donations to have their children admitted into prestigious colleges. Coincidentally enough, however, this is not the first time Loughlin and Huffman have dealt with this situation, as they've both played characters who've been in very similar school admission fraud storylines on their respective TV shows.

Lori Loughlin is of course best known for her role as Rebecca Katsopolis, also known as Aunt Becky, on the classic sitcom Full House. On the Season 6 episode "Be True to Your Preschool," Becky and husband Jesse (John Stamos) are looking to place their twin boys into a nice preschool. Jesse manages to get them accepted into a prestigious preschool, admitting to Becky that he lied on the application to secure their spots. Among other things, Jesse had claimed the 2-year-olds were multilingual and could play the bassoon. Jesse explains that he's merely doing his job as a father by doing whatever he can get put them on the "fast track," even if it means lying about the abilities of the children.

Clearly, however, the situation made Aunt Becky uncomfortable. Ultimately, she confesses that the application wasn't truthful to the admissions director of the preschool, who is actually a bit understanding. "It only shows you want what's best for your boys," the man says, eerily channeling the events of this week. Unlike Loughlin in real life, however, Becky took the high road when faced with the situation, telling Jesse they'll be just fine on whichever path they end up taking. "When they're ready to go to preschool, we'll find the right one and do everything to encourage them," Becky says on the show.

As for Huffman, her moment came on the fifth episode of the first season of Desperate Housewives. On the episode, Huffman's character Lynette Scavo and her husband Tom (Doug Savant) make a monetary donation of $15,000 to get their twin sons into an elite school. Some viewers of the show are now wondering if this storyline played out in Huffman's mind with new allegations she paid to have her eldest daughter's SAT scores doctored to secure her acceptance into college. Most bizarre of all is how Huffman is alleged to have paid $15,000 for the bribe, which is the exact amount her character paid for the same thing on the 2004 TV episode.

In light of the scandal, the Hallmark channel has announced that it's cutting all ties with Loughlin. The actress had been appearing in various projects for the network, which includes a recurring role on the series When Calls the Heart. It's not yet clear how the charges will affect her involvement in the upcoming fifth and final season of Fuller House on Netflix. Huffman is also next set to appear in the Netflix miniseries When They See Us, which has a release date of May 31, 2019. The scandal will certainly have a detrimental effect on both actresses' careers, and we'll soon enough see just how much legal trouble they're in as well. If only they'd have taken the hint from Aunt Becky in 1993.
