For a show that wasn't picked up to series, Locke & Key has gotten substantial publicity, with the full pilot even screening at Comic-Con 2011. Now it seems there may be new life for Locke & Key after all, with MTV expressing interest in reviving the horror adaptation.

Nothing is official yet, and MTV programming president David Janollari has yet to speak with creator Josh Friedman and executive producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. However, David Janollari did receive the pilot and is said to have enjoyed it.

After Fox passed on the pilot, there was interest in picking up the show from other networks, such as Syfy, although they ultimately passed. It is believed that the budget needed to mount this adaptation of Joe Hill's graphic novel may be too high to work on basic cable.

We reported last month that the trailer for Locke & Key had leaked online, which was presumably cut by Fox before its upfront presentation. It is still uncertain on whether or not Locke & Key will be seen on the small screen anytime soon, but it looks like the project isn't completely dead yet.
