FX has ordered a new animated series titled Little Demon. The comedy features Danny DeVito and Aubrey Plaza as the stars, with Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon on board as an executive producer. The series was created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla, who will also serve as executive producers on the animated show. FX isn't wasting any time getting started since production on the pilot is expected to begin as soon as next week.

Danny DeVito will star in Little Demon as the Devil. He ends up impregnating a reluctant young woman (Aubrey Plaza). 13 years later, the mother and her Antichrist daughter, played by DeVito's daughter, Lucy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, "but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter's soul." Little Demon already sounds like it could be a pretty big hit with DeVito starring as Satan alone. Fans of the actor will tune in just to check out how he tackles the dark role.

Little Demon has been in the works since last summer. Live-action shows are stopped at the moment, so now is the perfect time for an animated show to start up and prepare for release. Animators will more than likely be able to write from home, while the voice cast can probably do their parts from home too. However, they might not have to, depending on how long it takes the animators to get the pilot episode finished. With everybody stuck indoors, it might not take very long to complete since there really isn't a whole lot of anything going on.

FX has been looking for another animated series for a companion to its long-running animated comedy Archer, which now runs on the FXX network. Little Demon sounds like it could compliment the hit Archer series, but we won't know for sure until we get a tease of what the tone and animation will be like. Hopefully we'll get a tease in the coming months to see what the animated comedy is all about in terms of animation style and comedic tone. Regardless, the idea should be enough to get comedy fans on board for the new series.

Danny DeVito's Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, ShadowMachine, and FX Productions are producers on Little Demon. Both DeVito and Aubrey Plaza have worked with FX in the past in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Legion, respectively. Plaza has also been a long-time collaborator with the writers/creators Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner, and Kieran Valla. As a group, they have produced other pilots, including a 2016 pilot for TBS called Nightmare Time, and various sketch comedy projects. As a collective, they like to refer to themselves as "The Terror Team." Deadline was the first to report on Little Demon getting the greenlight at FX.
