It took quite some time, but the ArrowVerse is finally set to cross paths with Supernatural. The CW has revealed some new photos, as well as some key details on an upcoming episode of Legends of Tomorrow that will see the DC series crossover with Supernatural. Specifically, the gang will be coming across Sam and Dean's beloved 1967 Chevrolet Impala, Baby.
The network recently revealed some first-look photos at the episode, titled Zari, Not Zari, which will see the heroes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow making their way to Vancouver. While there, they come across an Impala that just so happens to be the one fans of Supernatural will be familiar with. Though, the one used for the purposes of filming was one created by a fan who recreated the car. In any case, we see Constantine, Charlie and Sara rifling through the trunk of the familiar Impala known as Baby.
In the episode, the group is travelling to Canada in search of the Loom of Fate. While this Legends of Tomorrow / Supernatural crossover is sure to delight many fans, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles won't be appearing in the episode. Also, in true Legends of Tomorrow fashion, the show is taking something of a meta approach. co-showrunner Phil Klemmer had this to say about the episode in a recent interview.
"From the beginning, we knew that we wanted to set an episode in modern-day Vancouver, because directly following the crossover that was all we could afford... I'm kidding, sorta, not really. Anyway, we wanted to do a spooky, Predator-style skulk-around-the-woods episode and at the 11th hour decided to have the Legends intersect with the crew of Supernatural. This was the inspired choice of our producing director Kevin Mock, I believe. In our world Supernatural is a TV show, not a real thing. Sorry, Supernatural fans."
So in the ArrowVerse, or at least this corner of it, Supernatural is a show that exists. Unfortunately, that rules out a possible team up with the Winchesters. Still, this seems like a fitting way to marry the two worlds together, given how off-the-rails things often go in this corner of the small screen DC universe. The CW has also revealed the synopsis for the episode, which reads as follows.
"Sara (Caity Lotz), Constantine (Matt Ryan) and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) find themselves in British Columbia searching for another piece of the Loom, but they run into a problem they couldn't have foreseen. Zari (Tala Ashe) has been having trouble feeling like herself, so she goes on a meditative journey at the suggestion of Behrad (guest star Shayan Sobhian). Meanwhile, Ava (Jes Macallan) volunteers to try and help Rory (Dominic Purcell) with a personal problem."
Kevin Mock directs the episode, which was written by Morgan Faust and Tyron Carter. Nick Zano and Olivia Swann are also on board to star. Zari, Not Zari is set to air on Tuesday, March 24.
