Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler have finally reunited in the first promo for their upcoming Law & Order crossover event. Set to premiere on April 1, the two-hour event will first bring back Chris Meloni as Stabler to reunite with Mariska Hargitay's Benson in a new episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This will be immediately followed by the premiere of Stabler's spinoff series Law & Order: Organized Crime. You can watch the promo for the crossover event below.

The promo consists mostly of old footage, flashing back to when Benson was first told that Stabler had put in his retirement papers. This was due to Christopher Meloni abruptly leaving the series after 12 seasons, and not once has he ever returned for so much as a single special appearance in the years since. Though the promo video stops short of showing us the actual reunion, we do get to see a familiar voice call out Liv's name, along with Benson's shocked response as she whispers, "Elliot!"

This follows a teaser trailer that was recently released for Law & Order: Organized Crime, focusing on Stabler's new adventures after his return to the force. In the video, Stabler explains what led to him finally coming back so many years later, stating he was just "waiting for the right moment." Though he's no longer working with Benson, Stabler will be back in a big way with the character pursuing criminals involved in organized crime after the former detective suffers a devastating personal loss.

Ilene Chaiken serves as showrunner after replacing Matt Olmstead, who was originally attached. Chaiken also serves as an executive producer. Alongside Meloni as Stabler, the series also stars Dylan McDermott, Tamara Taylor, Danielle Mone Truitt, and Ainsley Seiger. It is also expected that Hargitay will be featured in a recurring role with Olivia Benson making special appearances, as Meloni has teased an ongoing storyline between the two characters, even though they'll be leading different shows.

"How my character left was really unsatisfying, I think," Meloni told the New York Post last year. "It almost feels that we won't do one or two [crossover] episodes and move on our merry way. I just think there will always be possibilities there. People will always be hungry to see how we interact and how that dynamic has changed."

Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU is still going strong after 22 seasons on NBC. Following the members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit tasked with investigating especially heinous crimes, the series stars Mariska Hargitay, Richard Belzer, Ice-T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino, Jamie Gray Hyder, and Demore Barnes. Hargitay has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in the series.

The crossover event is going down on April 1 on NBC with Law & Order: SVU airing at 9/8c and Law & Order: Organized Crime following at 10/9c. You will also be able to watch the episodes on Peacock the next day. The new teaser video comes to us from the official channel for Law & Order on YouTube.
