Desperate Housewives star Kathryn Joosten passed away on Friday in Westlake Village, California at age 72. The Emmy-winning actress died of lung cancer, just weeks after her character Karen McClusky passed in the Desperate Housewives series finale.

Kathryn Joosten won Emmy awards in 2005 and 2008 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of the cranky Wisteria Lane resident. She is also best known for playing Mrs. Landingham, the secretary to Martin Sheen's President Bartlet on The West Wing. The actress also had memorable roles on Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, Joan of Arcadia, and Dharma & Greg.
