A brand new Jessica Jones trailer has been released by Netflix as season 2 of the beloved Marvel series approaches. This latest trailer doesn't have much in the way of new footage, but it instead takes a look back at the show's first season and shows how the character navigated her path to Jessica Jones season 2. While it may not contain much of anything new, it does serve as a nice little refresher for the show's first season.

Marvel's Jessica Jones season 2 debuts on Netflix on International Women's Day, March 8. That seems like the perfect time to drop new episodes of Jessica Jones, as she's one of the best examples of a strong female hero we have right now on the small screen. Sure, she's flawed, but she tries to do the right thing when it really comes down to it. As far as season 2 goes, Marvel and Netflix are keeping a pretty tight lid on things. It looks like they may have some pretty significant surprises in store and they want to make sure it stays that way until the new episodes actually arrive.

In Season 2, Marvel's New York City private investigator is beginning to put her life back together after taking down her tormentor, Kilgrave. She also took a brief break to fight alongside her fellow Hell's Kitchen heroes in The Defenders. Now, Jessica is known throughout the city as a super-powered killer. Despite that, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why. Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) is joined by returning cast members Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse) and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez, among others.

We also know that David Tennant will return as Killgrave, despite having been killed, or at least seemingly killed, at the end of Jessica Jones season 1. Marvel is pretty good at faking us out with major character deaths, but that seemed pretty definitive. Perhaps he will just be returning in flashbacks? It's hard to say at this point. Jessica Jones season 2 wrapped production back in September and will be one of likely three Marvel shows debuting a new season on Netflix this year. We're also probably going to see Luke Cage season 2 and Daredevil season 3 arrive on the streaming service sometime in 2018.

Marvel's Jessica Jones is Executive Produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (Dexter), Raelle Tucker (True Blood), Jim Chory (Daredevil) and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb. The new season will be comprised of 13 episodes, all of which were directed by women, making this a pretty groundbreaking season. Not only is this a female-led, marquee series, but it's got a female showrunner and this season features all-female directors. That's significant.
