Jerry O'Connell has signed on to star in an untitled comedy pilot for CBS, just one week after NBC declined to pick up his Mockingbird Lane series.

Christopher Nicholas Smith (Paranormal Activity 3) stars as Carter, a young man who moves into a short-term housing complex after being left at the altar. Jerry O'Connell will play Stuart, a successful OB/GYN who is in the midst of his second divorce and lives in the same building. Kal Penn and Tony Shalhoub also star as Carter's new neighbors Gil and Frank.

Rob Greenberg (How I Met Your Mother, Happy Endings) wrote the pilot script and will serve as an executive producer.

Production will begin later this month. The pilot was ordered back in July, although production was delayed since the producers could not find the fourth male lead. Jerry O'Connell was not available at the time, since he was still technically attached to Mockingbird Lane until NBC officially passed on the series.
