Memphis Beat star Jason Lee will now be walking a beat in the Crescent City. The actor has signed on to star in the CBS pilot Second Sight, a remake of the 1999 BBC crime drama series that starred Clive Owen.

The story follows New Orleans detective Tanner, who is the top cop in NOLA but is hiding a bizarre secret. He suffers from a rare ocular disorder that causes him to have frightening visions, hallucinations, and dreams. When his doctor convinces Tanner that he won't go blind, Tanner decides to use this "ability" as a crime-stopping tool.

Michael Cuesta is directing the pilot episode from a script he co-wrote with his brother, Gerald Cuesta. The writers will executive produce alongside Carol Mendelsohn, Nick Reed, Julie Weitz, and original Second Sight creator Paula Milne.

Jason Lee most recently appeared on the small screen in arcs on Fox's Raising Hope and NBC's Up All Night.
