Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to the horror genre alongside her Halloween: H20 director Steve Miner for ABC Family's The Final Girls.

The project, written by Jeff Dixon on spec, does not have an official pilot green light, although it is being put on the fast track. The story revolves around a group of girls who have survived and endured personal tragedies, brought together by a mysterious woman (Jamie Lee Curtis) to channel their tormented experiences into something positive.

Steve Miner, who also directed Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part III and Forever Young, is also serving as producer. The filmmaker has recently been working with ABC Family, directing several episodes of Switched at Birth and Make It or Break It, including both of the pilots.

If the project is given a series order, it would mark Jamie Lee Curtis's first regular television gig since 1989's Anything But Love. She most recently had guest-starring arcs on CBS' NCIS and Fox's New Girl.
