Jesse and Jane are getting back together -- sort of -- as Breaking Bad stars Aaron Paul and Krysten Ritter are reuniting for a new project. Reportedly, the two will team up to lend their voices to the James Patterson audiobook The Coldest Case: A Black Book Drama for Amazon's Audible Originals. Alongside Paul and Ritter, the voice cast will also feature Nathalie Emmanuel, famous for her role as Missandei on HBO's Game of Thrones.

"I'm thrilled to collaborate with Audible on an extraordinary slate of original projects," James Patterson said in a statement released to Variety. He adds: "I'm particularly looking forward to building stories specifically for the listening experience - the spin of a tire wheel, the gravel in a villain's voice, the note of triumph in a detective's final words as he closes a case - all performed by gifted, top-tier talent."

The Coldest Case: A Black Book Drama will be the first project stemming from a multi-project development and first-look deal between Patterson and Audible. Four other projects from Patterson are also in the works at Audible, with the author introducing new characters with original storylines. The first audiobook serves as a prequel to the bestselling Patterson novel The Black Book, with Patterson collaborating with writers and executive producers Aaron Tracy (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Ryan Silbert (Stan Lee's Alliances: A Trick of Light).

Per Audible, The Coldest Case will follow homicide detective Billy Harney and his new partner, Kate. Hoping to infiltrate a notorious drug ring in Chicago, Kate works undercover at Billy's behest, but her cover is blown after several members of the ring turn up dead. Kate's informant disappears along with the ring's black book, and as Billy and Kate investigate their murders, "they'll be pulled into a dangerous web of corrupt politicians, vengeful billionaires, drugged pro-athletes, and violent, dark web conspiracies, all in search of the missing black book." Presumably, Aaron Paul and Krysten Ritter will be voicing the roles of Billy and Kate.

On Breaking Bad, Aaron Paul and Krysten Ritter were involved in a very memorable storyline when Ritter joined the series in season two as Jane, the girlfriend of Paul's meth-cooking stoner Jesse Pinkman. Their relationship ends in tragedy just as quickly as it begins, but many longtime fans of the show still considered their scenes to be among Jesse's best scenes on the series. Last year, the two briefly reunited to reprise the roles for a flashback scene in the Netflix Original movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.

Najen Naylor, senior director of Audible Originals, suggests the company sees great potential in this new deal with Patterson. "We've seen great success with his other work available on our service and we're confident Audible listeners will love having brand new scripted full-cast content from Patterson, created specifically with the audio medium in mind," she said in a statement. Naylor will also serve as executive in charge for The Coldest Case along with the other Patterson collaborations.

Audible Originals can be heard by Audible members for no extra cost with subscriptions running at $14.95 per month. You can find out more information and sign up for the service at Audible.com. This news was first reported by Variety.
