John Krasinski stars in Amazon's new Jack Ryan series and a new first look trailer shows just how explosive the show will be. We've seen teasers up until this point, but this nearly 3-minute trailer offers a pretty awesome overview of how Krasinski is approaching the role that was once occupied by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine. The Jack Ryan series doesn't premiere until the end of August, but Amazon is cranking the promotional campaign up early to ramp up excitement for the new series.

John Krasinski is on a major role after the success of A Quiet Place and the new Jack Ryan series will again show the actor flexing different acting chops than we've seen him use in the past. Now that Amazon has started to heavily promote the new series based off of Tom Clancy's novels, we're probably going to end up seeing a lot more of John Krasinski in action mode, looking beat up and threatening to blow a building to pieces unless his demands are met. This is a far cry from Jim Halpert.

The Jack Ryan series already has a bunch of hype surrounding it since it was already picked up for a second season, 4 months ahead of the debut of the first season. The series is a CIA thriller that looks like it will be keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as they watch John Krasinski get into intense action. Krasinski is Jack Ryan, an up-and-coming CIA analyst who is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. Ryan uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication, which puts him right in the middle of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

Each episode of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is an hour long and the first season will last for 8 episodes. In addition to John Krasinski, the new Amazon series also stars Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as James Greer and Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards) as Cathy Mueller. Jack Ryan is produced by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, who also wrote the pilot based off a story that he and Cuse developed. It will be interesting to see how Krasinski stacks up to his peers who have also played the Jack Ryan character when all is said and done.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series premieres August 31st on Amazon Prime, which means that we're more than likely about to get a few more teases of the new show. If they're half as good as the new first look trailer, we're all in for a treat when the end of August rolls around. In addition to the new trailer, Amazon also released a brand-new poster.
