The Paddy's Pub gang is coming back for another round of shenanigans. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has officially been renewed for season 15 by FX. The long-running comedy was expected to continue for at least one more season, but now the network has made it official. With the renewal, the show has made its way into the history books with a rather impressive record.

With season 14, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia tied The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for the longest-running live-action comedy series in history. With another season coming up, the FX series will solely own the record. Series creator Rob McElhenney, who also stars as Mac, previously revealed that writing for season 15 was already underway, which makes the renewal less surprising. Specifically, McElhenney also recently promised that the new season will tackle what the gang is going through during the quarantine.

This comes as FX also recently renewed a pair of other comedies, Lil Dicky's Dave and the vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows. Other returning shows next season include American Crime Story, American Horror Story, Archer, Pose, Breeders, Atlanta, Better Things, Cake, Fargo, Mayans M.C., Mr. Inbetween, Snowfall and The Weekly. Eric Schrier, President of FX Entertainment, had this to say in a statement.

"We couldn't be more excited about our roster of new and returning shows slated through next year. It has been an extraordinary time for FX over these past three months with the launch of FX on Hulu, which has transformed our business. We believe the continued strength of our original series coupled with the growing awareness of FX on Hulu as our streaming platform will make the FX brand stronger and more relevant and accessible than ever before."

Disney completed its merger with Fox last year. As a result, Disney now controls FX. Plus, a separate deal with Comcast gave the studio control over Hulu as well. To help create some brand appeal, FX on Hulu was launched earlier this year, which gives the network a much bigger presence on the service. New episodes are now arriving on the service the next day, which makes them far more accessible for viewers. Disney also offers a bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia kicked off its now-legendary run in 2005. To date, more than 150 episodes have aired. Rob McElhenney is also busy with Mythic Quest on Apple TV+, while Glenne Howerton has A.P. Bio. However, McElhenney has promised they will keep the show going as long as people are watching. There is no word yet on when season 15 will make it to air. With the majority of productions still shut down, it is difficult to predict when filming could get underway. We'll be sure to keep you posted as further details are made available. This news was previously reported by Deadline.
