Last week, Marvel revealed that Scott Buck (Scott Buck) has signed on to serve as showrunner and executive producer of the studio's fourth Netflix TV series, Marvel's Iron Fist, which doesn't have a release date set in stone at this time. This was the first major announcement for the series, which will follow Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones and the upcoming Marvel's Luke Cage, with all four main characters coming together to form The Defenders in a new miniseries. Today we have new details from The Hashtag Show, which claims to reveal two of the main characters currently being cast.

The first role is Dylan Kendall, who is between 25 - 28 years old and described as a "handsome, sophisticated and independent loner." The site speculates that this character is actually Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist. The character's age is about the same for the rest of The Defenders, and it's also about the same age Rand would be when he shows up in New York, having left K'un L'un to search for his father's killer.

It's possible that this character could also be a younger version of Wendell Rand, Danny's father. In the Marvel Comics, Wendell discovered the mystical city of K'un-L'un as a young boy and as an adult, seeks out K'un L'un again, but this time with his wife, his son, a 9-10 year old Danny Rand, and his business partner Harold Meachum, who also killed Wendell. These casting details didn't specify any ethnicity for this character.

The second character is named Harry Marshall, a Caucasian male between the ages of 45 and 50, described as "highly intelligent, merciless, confident, arrogant, and physically active." The site speculates that this character may be the Steel Serpent, who could serve as the show's first villain in Season 1. The Steen Serpent's real name is Davos, a native of K'un-L'un who was exiled from the mystical land. He eventually steals Iron Fist's power until it consumed him and Iron Fist stole it back. The site suggests that Harry Marshall could also be Harold Meachum, the business partner who eventually killed Wendell Rand. The site also reports that Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise her role as Jeryn Hogarth from Marvel's Jessica Jones in Marvel's Iron Fist. In the comics, Hogarth works for Rand's father became the executor of his estate after his death.

Another report from The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Marvel was considering Asian-American actors to play Danny Rand, after a grass-roots movement started online last year for the studio to cast an Asian-American as Marvel's Iron Fist. In the comics, Danny Rand is portrayed as a white male with blond hair, and the site reports that, after initially considering Asian actors, the studio is now seeking white actors for the title role. It's worth noting that the Dylan Kendall role doesn't specify any ethnicity, but, then again, it hasn't been officially confirmed that role is actually Danny Rand. What do you think about these Iron Fist casting details?
